First aid patrol team
Whatever happens on the festival grounds, the volunteers of the patrol group are the ones who can provide first-aid medical treatment the fastest, because they are walking around in groups of 3, patrolling in shifts of 8-12 hours. They are in contact with their supervisor at all times with walkie-talkies and they can ask for assistance when needed or they escort the injured person to the first-aid medical centre.
To be able to be a part of the patrol team and to be able to provide first-aid medical treatment, one has to attend the weekly Helperek trainings. At the end everyone will have to pass three exams, a theoretical, a practical and an oral exam. These trainings and exams are mandatory and other trainings, school activities and such cannot be used as excuses to not attend them. Everyone bonds during these months and long lasting friendships are born, so it would not be wise to miss any of the trainings. If you want to know more about first-aid, if you think that you are perfect for the team and you would like to work and party at the same time, then apply as soon as possible!
Next to drug prevention, the organisation also finds that harm reduction is important as well. The social team is split up into 3 groups/locations.
- Drop in: This is a place where the “tired” youngsters can rest in a safe environment, while being observed by specialists. If needed, they will provide first-aid treatment, crisis-intervention or people can ask for advice. The drop-in is a 0-24 hour service and the staff works in 8 hour shifts.
- Party service: The party service staff provides the partying crowd with water and grape sugar, also they can provide first-aid treatment. The people can come to the party service every day from 21:00 till 05:00
- Social patrol: This is a special patrol task, every day between 16:00 and 00:00, the social patrollers walk around to find people who are under the influence of a certain substance, to provide them with the care they need and they inform them about the drop-in, party service or the first-aid medical centre.
Attending weekly trainings, the knowledge about drugs and teamwork are important here. When being a member of the social division, you get to work at all 3 groups during the festivals. The members of this group are highly trained psychologists, social workers and first-aiders. If you want to be a part of a great group, then don’t hesitate to contact us.
Administration is important at the Sziget festival medical centre. They are the ones who make sure that the almost 500 volunteers are registered in the system in only a few days’ time, they make sure that the medical centre keeps on running during the festival, that all of the paperwork is in order and that the patients are registered. They are present at the medical centre and also in a small office, doing paperwork.
If you like to work in the background, being an irreplaceable member of the crew, making sure that everything runs smoothly and if you are familiar with Word and Excel, then you are the person that we are looking for. It is a big plus if you know a bit of Latin and if you are a patient person who can be present at the festival grounds a couple of days before the festival starts. Contact us if you are interested!
Area control/security crew
This division is one of the strongest pillars of the Organisation. They are specialized in giving background support on the festivals all day long, by organizing and directing the surveillance of areas and facilities occupied temporarily by Helperek, and they take significant part in the creation of the logistics, the protection of the personal property and the equipment of the organisation. In some cases support is given by them to the patrols team. The specially trained division leaders and members are also involved in the first aid education of the Helpers, because of this they are able to help out the patrollers if needed. In the process they improve their communication skills and become better in conflict treatment/solving. If you want to be the member of a responsible but hard-working group, your place is among us!
